An interesting note for Nevada fishing in the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area!  The Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) has reported a growth and catch rate study is underway and 4,000 fish have been tagged that were planted during 2010 and 2011 into the Hinkson Slough.  Anglers are being advised by NDOW to look closely next to the dorsal fin of each fish caught, as some of the tags may be difficult to see and are going unnoticed after the catch.  If you catch a tagged fish, note the color of the tag/species strain as indicated by NDOW……..

Red tag= BelAir strain from Colorado

Yellow tag= Tahoe strain from Marlette Lake

Blue tag= Eagle Lake strain from California

White tag= Cutbow from Marlette Lake (rainbow X cutthroat)

Be sure to familiarize yourself with special regulations for this area, and keep your pencils or cell phones handy for reporting tagged fish!  For more information, check out the latest NDOW fishing reports at  http://ndow.org/fish/report/
