Fall colors at Antelope Mt. Nevada

Everyone has probably seen it, that one hunter who believes he/she has the right to do whatever they want to do when out in the field….

Not everybody talks about it, but it’s worth reviewing some basic points of consideration of hunter etiquette in Nevada. A majority of hunters share a common respect in the field, but a small number of hunters lack common sense when it comes to sharing the hunting experience in Nevada’s great outdoors.

Consider the following:

– When you get to your hunting area, familiarize yourself with the surroundings, specifically look for other hunters who have gotten there before you.

Example:  If you see a hunter already there, glassing a hillside, be respectful and DON’T blast past him in your vehicle or on your ATV.  He or she is there for a reason, and the commotion you cause will likely spook off what he’s looking at.

DO get there earlier if you want to be first-you have to get out there earlier and claim first spot.

-When coming upon a group of hunters on roads ahead of you, DON’T push or try to cut them off in your vehicle.

DO consider taking an adjacent route if other hunters are ahead of you.

When stalking game, DON’T chase them with an ATV or truck; this method is not considered “fair pursuit” of an animal and can be illegal.

DO be respectful towards Nevada wildlife and your fellow Nevada hunters!
