Although each archer has a personal preference of the type of Broadhead blade he/she uses, here are some advantages and disadvantages of the various types-

1 Fixed blade:

Advantages-Dependability, plus the ability to sharpen nicked or dulled edges….

Disadvantages-Tend to fly differently through the wind towards the target point….

For cost comparison-fixed blades generally are more expensive!

2. Mechanical blade:

Advantages-Flies true to the target point (closed blade); not opening until impact.

These blades are also a bit less expensive…….

Disadvantages-Because of the mechanical nature of the blade, there’s always a potential for failure rate, thus explaining why some states outlaw this type.  For hunters not aware, Nevada DOES allow mechanical blades….

TIP: Archery practice methods vary, but here’s a thought-tune the bow up using target arrows.  After the bow is tuned and sighted in, switch to Broadhead arrow tips, then shoot some more to perfect your pattern.
