Nevada anglers experience diverse fishing experiences throughout the state, with some of the best warm water opportunity existing in Southern Nevada…

Fishing waters in Northern Nevada region may be well known, however many Nevada anglers know that Southern Nevada is the place to fish for warm water species year round.

With some warm water fish species tolerating temperatures greater than 80 degrees, Lake Mead and Lake Mohave are excellent waters for warm water fishing In Nevada.  Largemouth and smallmouth bass, as well as striped bass are some of the primary game fish, and some species can thrive. In fact, the state record for striper bass (60 pounds) was caught in Lake Mead.

Although lakes in the Southern Nevada region have receded from their original footprint in the past several years, striper bass continues to benefit from increased forage in the waters.  The species is not stocked by NDOW in Lakes Meade and Mohave, as the populations are currently completely self-sustaining.
